Oh this is a great list, I think I will need to divorce so I can propose all over again in one of these lovely restaurants. So nice to see there are still some good, independent restaurants not charging insane money but doing their own menus, a having a bit of decor, a bit of romantic style. Have to admit, the French do have the edge (Italians close behind). Thank you!
Sessions Arts Club is one of the most expensive restaurants (that isn't on the multiple Michelin star global circuit anyway) I know... I adore it but I wouldn't imagine you're getting out for less than £90/head on food alone
To be clear I've been to sit at the bar before and ordered some bread and a bottle of wine, just to enjoy the room!! But if you want to eat a reasonably filling dinner I think you need 4 plates each, and all the "mains" style ones (they're half the size of an actual main course) are £20-35 in their own right 😰

ah god i think we must order a bit differently, i usually do like two plates and they’re like £12-15 each!
this is making me realise that small plate culture is absolutely more variable than i’ve thought. i’ll add in a caveat, thank you :-)

ah this is also because i do not drink, so i never noticed the wine bill. i will add in that as a note too :-)
(plus they have one of the higher service charges in London, at 15% - although that is slowly becoming the new normal...)
